New Italian wines - exclusively imported by www.winecases.com

Brett Jones is delighted to announce details of the www.wincases.com Special Italian Case (case 34). Through his contacts in Italy, Brett has discovered five superb Italian wines previously unavailable in the UK. The whites come from the Veneto region in North East Italy and include one organic varietal and two from the overlapping zone of Lugana on the shores of Lake Garda. These wines are comparable with fine Soave Classicos. One of the reds is a Sicilian find from the DOC area Cerasuolo di Vittoria made from local grape varieties. The other is a great example of a Chianti from 1997, considered to be one of the best vintages in the last 100 years:

Margherita Trabucchi - Veneto 1997 (2 bottles - 13·5%)
This organic wine made from the Garganega grape is an intense golden yellow colour with pale green hues. It has a delightful, floral bouquet with strong hints of acacia and roasted almonds. Lingering fruit and vanilla tones make this wine a pleasurable companion even when served with dishes not traditionally associated with white wines.

Podere Selva Capuzza - Lugana 1999 (2 bottles - 12%)
A fragrant, full-bodied white wine with hints of lemons and a long finish. Goes a treat with white fish or prawn dishes and salads (but go lightly with the dressing!).

Podere Selva Capuzza Riserva - Lugana 1998 (2 bottles - 12%)
With the addition of gentle oak and age, this fragrant and full-bodied white wine has velvety texture and a solid structure. Great accompaniment to bruschetta, grilled fish and pesto-based pasta dishes!

Il Cigno Nero - Cerasuolo di Vittoria (Romolo Buccellato) 1996 (2 bottles - 13%)
A classic red made with Frappato, Calabrese and Grosso Nero grapes and aged in oak for one year before bottling.
This is a surprisingly subtle wine with a fine finish. Ideal with roast meats, game and soft cheeses.

Villa Torrigiani Chianti Riserva 1997 (4 bottles - 12·5%)
A perfectly balanced Chianti with ripe cherry fruit flavours and a hint of spice. Made with 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo Nero grapes. Villa Torrigiani covers some 60 hectares and the grapes are picked by hand.

This 12 bottle Special Italian Case will be on-line until the end of July and costs £93·35
(including delivery in UK mainland).
